This one-day intensive workshop guides you through building a complete Power BI sales dashboard from scratch, using a realistic music industry dataset. You will follow the end-to-end analytics workflow – from connecting and cleaning data to designing a data model, creating DAX calculations, and finally visualizing and sharing insights. The workshop emphasizes not just how to click through Power BI, but why each step matters, so you can reason about data quality, model design, and stakeholder needs. By the end of the day, you’ll have a multi-page, interactive report and the confidence to apply these skills to real business projects. Who Should Attend: Beginners new to Power BI and intermediate users looking to solidify best practices will both benefit. If you have basic familiarity with Excel or databases, this workshop will quickly bring you up to speed on Power BI’s tools. Intermediate users will appreciate the focus on proper modeling and efficiency (no prior Power BI experience required, just eagerness to learn!). By completing this workshop, you will be able to: • Connect & Transform Data: Import Excel data and shape it using Power Query (ETL) to produce clean, analysis-ready tables. • Data Modeling: Design a proper star-schema model with fact and dimension tables, establishing relationships and a dedicated Date table. • DAX Calculations: Author basic DAX measures for key metrics (e.g. Total Sales, Profit, etc.) and implement time intelligence functions like year-to-date and year-over-year comparisons. • Interactive Visualizations: Build clear and interactive report pages with a variety of visuals (cards, bar/column charts, line charts, maps, etc.), along with slicers, filters, and drill-through navigation for enhanced analysis. • Publishing & Sharing: Publish your dashboard to the Power BI Service and share it securely via workspaces and apps, including basics of access permissions and row-level security.
