At Excelized, data protection, confidentiality and responsible handling of business information are central to every project. Whether working with Excel files, Power BI reports, Power Query transformations or Power Automate workflows, client data is treated with care and used only for the agreed purpose.
1. Confidential handling of client data
During consulting, training or project work, Excelized may receive access to sample files, business reports, dashboards, data models, process descriptions or other project-related information.
All provided information is handled confidentially and is not shared with third parties unless this is required for the agreed service or explicitly approved by the client.
Whenever possible, anonymized or sample data should be used instead of sensitive production data.
2. Purpose-limited data use
Client data is used only to deliver the requested service, such as:
- Building or improving Excel workbooks
- Creating Power BI reports and dashboards
- Preparing Power Query transformations
- Developing Power Automate workflows
- Troubleshooting reporting or data issues
- Preparing training material or documentation
Excelized does not sell, rent or commercially reuse client data.
3. Access and permissions
Access to client systems, files or reports should follow the principle of least privilege. This means that only the access required for the specific task should be granted.
Where possible, access should be temporary and removed after the project or support activity has been completed.
For Power BI, Microsoft 365, SharePoint or similar environments, permissions remain under the control of the client.
4. Data storage and transfer
Project files may be exchanged through commonly used business platforms such as email, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive or other agreed channels.
Clients are encouraged to avoid sending unnecessary personal, confidential or sensitive information. If sensitive data is required for a project, appropriate safeguards should be discussed in advance.
Excelized aims to keep project-related data only as long as necessary for the agreed service, documentation, support or legal obligations.
5. Power BI, Excel and automation projects
In reporting and automation projects, special attention is given to:
- Clean and transparent data transformations
- Documented business logic
- Appropriate access concepts
- Row-level security where required
- Avoidance of unnecessary personal data
- Clear separation between test data and production data
- Maintainable report and workflow structures
The goal is to create practical solutions that are not only functional, but also understandable, maintainable and responsible from a data handling perspective.
6. Use of third-party platforms
Excelized may work with tools and platforms such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, SharePoint, OneDrive, Wix or other business software depending on the project.
The data protection and security settings of these platforms are usually controlled by the respective provider and/or the client's own organization. Clients should ensure that their internal IT, compliance and data protection requirements are followed when granting access or sharing files.
7. Training and demo data
Training materials, templates and examples are normally created using fictional, anonymized or publicly available sample data.
Real client data is not used in public examples, blog posts, screenshots, courses or templates unless the client has clearly approved this in advance.
8. Responsibility of the client
Clients remain responsible for the legality, accuracy and permissions of the data they provide. This includes ensuring that data may be shared for the requested project, support or training purpose.
Excelized can support with practical data handling concepts, but does not replace legal, compliance or data protection advice from a qualified professional.
9. Questions about data handling
